And good luck to who takes the job.

Is it just me or does that salary seem to be severely low for the job description?

They are only requiring 3 years experience and an undergrad degree, doesn't seem too low to me.

Given that it is Houston, not too surprised that they would underpay someone for a huge job. Note: There is no bias in my statement.... even if my Dad and Brother work for the Houston Fire Dept...:D

I was actually thinking that it looked rather high for a city job. It is at most a mid-level bureaucratic position, and as stated above, they only want 3 years exp and aren't asking for a graduate degree. I was expecting to see something like $35-45K/yr.

StephenH 11-01-07 03:45 PM

They aren't even picky about the degree- just something businessy or governmentish- and like somebody up there said, good luck to the recipient.

Too bad there's no mention about "interest in cycling a plus"

That job looks easier than my current job (paramedic).

I bet you get one of those hot City of Houston Public Works Priuses.

Whenever this position gets filled, please post the person's name, email and phone number! Rode down Washington last week and the bike lane is straight out of Baghdad!

SpiderMike 11-09-07 04:04 PM

Bike lane on Washington.... straight out of Baghdad. Sounds like they improved it already.

davemarchese 11-09-07 04:11 PM

I actually still enjoyed the fact that I could ride from my house (Briargove) all the way downtown using mostly bike lanes or paths.

What gets me is the pipe/drain things that stub out 3" in the middle of the lane...

Seriously, I'm a civil engineer/MBA working in finance and if I didn't have two young kids I'd probably take the job for a couple of years. I'm a believer in those bumper stickers: Houston, It's worth it! I like our city and the lifestyle it allows.
