The Shopping Thread: Texas Edition!
The Holidays are coming, so we're supposed to start thinking of what to get everyone else, so fess up, what have you all been buying for yourself instead...
It's only fair that I'll start:
Ritchey WCS 4-Axis stem (aluminum)
Performance Triflex Tight (part of my 'ride into the winter' plan)
2x Vittoria Rally tubular tires (learning to clue those things soon)
new CO2 inflator (after losing my last one somewhere on Independance a few blocks north of Legacy)
oh, and a NOS 06 Fuji Team Issue WCS edition frameset.
-- Got to sell my Flyte frame w/ Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork to help pay for this one. If anyone is looking for a cheap frameset to build a new crit bike from, let me know.

Well, it was a few weeks back, but I think I officially started my holiday purchasing with the new Fuji Team RC. That said, now I see this: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ksid=p3907.m29
Had I seen that, I probably would have used some of my vast collection of frequent flier miles to head out to lovely New Jersey to look into this. If only my wife was rode the same frame size, I'd give her the gift of an almost new Team RC and go for that one
ETA: Here's to hoping that the weather in DFW clears up for tomorrow. Several of the PBA rides (the ones I can hang with anyhow) were canceled today and I ended up doing a few Spinerval workouts. Looking forward to trying out the new cold weather gear I picked up yesterday morning.

Once I get the Fuji built up and paid for, I'm thinking about putting a pair of wood fenders on my Barracuda Mk.I steel frame. Something like a light wood with a darker stripe down the center or something like that. The bike already weighs 25.5lbs, whats a few extra at that point.

I'm buying yet another tool chest so now I finally won't have tools in boxes. I outgrew my previous one, so I figured I'd add another rolling unit to match the existing rolling unit. I also plan to add a low profile jack to get the lowrider truck up in the air. Currently the only way to lift the truck is through the back.
Oh, and I guess I will buy my family members some gift cards or something.

So I'm flying down the backside of one of the hills near my inlaws appartment on the Tarmac S-Works I was borrowing while out here in SoCal and my phone rings. Thinking it might be urbanknight wondering why I missed the start of the SFVBC ride I pull off and check the voice mail. Instead it is RBM Frisco telling me the Ritchey WCS 4-axis I ordered is in.
I also need to exchange the Triflex tights, the pair I got has loose threads from the stitching everywhere!!
No bites on my current frameset yet. I figured $250 + shipping if needed would be fair for a year old frame, full carbon fork, stem, handlebars and seatpost.

I got an older model Giro Atmos (the USPS model, I think 2004?) for my birthday on December 17th... but I can't use it until then, it's just sitting on a chair, still in its box. I asked for some of the Fizik bar-tape with the gel padding, some winter cycling socks, and a Park Tool bike-cleaning set, from my three siblings.

What winter socks did you get? I've got a couple pairs of the Defeet Blaze wool socks now that I really like. I need to get something warmer for my head/ears soon. This time of year the coolmax head wrap isn't nearly enough.

It's not an Xmas present for myself, but I've bought a unicycle and a rear rack for my bicycle lately.

I wasn't supposed to get my Fuji frame till after the new year, but the seller wants it out of his place sooner than later and willing to ship it ahead of complete payment. All the more reason to round up the rest of the $$$ I owe him asap.

I also bought a set of the Travel Trac rollers at Performance recently... and I love them. I rode 35 minutes today in place of our cancelled group ride due to the 40 degree weather and constant rain.

I have bought absolutely nothing for myself. For the first time in a long time I have not even had an itch to buy myself a new cycling related Christmas gift. I may bite the bullet and get a Power Tap set up between now and January.

Add to my list above:
Stanley (Lasko) model 655702 Blower Fan to keep me cool this winter when I'm on the trainer. If anyone has been fitted up at Richardson BikeMart Fisco, I think this is the same one they've got up there. Short of opening the side door, figure this was the best idea I've seen yet.

I have to buy my own bike toys. I was in the LBS store on Black Friday getting some stuff for the mixte I'm fixing up to be a commuter. Then this alluring hardware jumped off the rack and I rode it and then I bought it!! It was marked down from $800-ish to $600 (2006 model). So I guess it's my Christmas present to myself.
Of course it rained all weekend so I didn't get to ride!!! grrrrr - now I'm at work and it's gorgeous outside.
By next week I should be one of maybe 3 people in Waco who commutes by bike.

That's a good price for a solid ride there. I'd bet there are more than 3 people in Waco bike communting. But not by much.

I'm building up a Leader cyclocross frame with a full Campy Chorus setup as a possible commuter. Merry Christmas to me.

my stuff so far
I bought myself the Kinetic fluid trainer from REI yesterday got it for $205.
Other stuff Ive bought myself so far: Montane Featherlite jacket, Sugoi Midzero Zap Tights, PI arm warmers, PI cyclone toe covers.
Salomon Raid Revo 20 (Adventure racing pack) and Inov8 flyroc 310.
Stuff I still want:
I am trying to get a new cinelli stem (x/a or 1/a).
I asked for Neuvation Wheels for x-mas from my mom.
Thats it.
