DFW: Who rode to work today?

I got to the office just before the rain started.

Everyone here is panicking and hopping in their cars to go sit in traffic. Beltline @ 635 is a parking lot in both directions.

It will be fun riding home in the snow!

I drove, the 26 miles from Frisco to Irving is a bit much and I can't find any route that avoids 121.
that said, it took me 1 1/2 hours to drive home. Most of the time was spent between The Colony and
Frisco, 1/2 hour from the bridge over lake to Lebanon road (about 2 miles). I sure would have
preferred to be on my bike.

thanks for that!
I'd need to tweak it a bit (I work closer to airport than Irving proper) but it does look
workable.

I took the day off, mainly because of my trip Sat. But there was a carbon road bike in the bike rack yeaterday....and it was still there this morning. Must have got a ride home.

I was at work until about 7:30 last night. I started home and hit a few slick patches, but the roads weren't too horrible. But the wind was cutting through my top layers, (I should have packed a fleece) so I ended up hopping a bus for a big chunk of my commute.

Stay off MacArthur on a bicycle, period...I live off Northgate in Irving. Just east of the airport and Commute to N Dallas/Richardson. I can't tell you east of 35, but west of it I know well. Try this route through Irving...http://tinyurl.com/ytygsc If you give me a better address in Irving I can do even better.

Yea, I made the mistake of riding over to MacArthur & 635 for lunch, one day. What a madhouse.

My office is at Royal & Beltline and I live at Jupiter & Garland Rd(hwy 78). I actually have several different routes that I use. Most days I take Royal all the way across town, other days it's Northhaven. But lately, I've enjoyed taking Park Ln. There are a few lights that take a little longer than I like, but overall, it's a rather low-stress route. Of course, with any of these, I end up back on Royal just before I35.

Also note that there is a lot of construction on Old Denton near the Bush Turnpike right now.

Yes... but construction on McCoy is largely complete, so there's a GREAT alternate. With a little snaking around, you can get from Whitlock/Keller Springs all the way to Hebron with only three traffic signals - one of which is a right-on-red.

Indeed, much better road. I lived in Carrollton much of my life, but didn't get into riding till right before I moved so don't know too many good bike routes, but know which roads are less than bike friendly over that direction.
