BF Employment
Hi all- my business is dying so I need to work for someone else.
I have 2 plans-
Close down slowly and get a Part Time admin-type office job
Or
Close suddenly after getting a full time position.
I have a Master's Degree in Business
Anyone know of any opportunities? Id like to work close to Plano,
but for the right job, I'd commute a bit farther.
EDIT: Im not cut out for sales

We've got an outside sales position open. Based in Richardson, but territory would be all over Dallas. PM me if you want more information.

That's cool. I'm not either. Just figured I'd look to see what we had open, and a sales position is the only opening in Dallas. All our non-sales positions are in Houston or Minneapolis, which is probably farther than you're willing to commute.

monogodo, I am currently looking for a certain type of sales. So I don't hijack this thread, can I pm you if the position is open to outside applicants to ask some questions?
Hobartlemagne, I'll check with our North Dallas office to see what opportunities they might have. Is there a specific type of work you are experienced in, or better yet, what are you looking for? I might be able to help you with the part-time thing if you go that route.

that can utilize my skills and smarts (maybe not utilize the degree). Admin/ secretarial, something
like that.
Id prefer Full time. My degree is a MS-Management and Administrative Sciences
(with a focus in Organizations and Strategy) from UTD School of Management
I have 2 yrs HR Mgr experience (working for other people) and about 5 years experience
in Payables (also working for other people)
My self employment for the past 3.5 years has covered all aspects of business operations except
filing taxes (CPA did that)
I dont have the personality for sales.
Id be up for a change also. If a company is just looking for a masters-educated "clean slate"
person to custom-train for the specific position, Id consider it.
Heres the bounty- (locals only) If I get a full time job with a BFer assist, Ill treat you to dinner at a great
steakhouse (like Fogo or the like)
Part time- we'll go somewhere cheaper.
Thanks everyone!
-Ryan

Uber Goober
In years past, the road out to Quintana Beach had a swing bridge (floating draw-bridge), and some highway department guy got to sit there in a little booth by himself all day and operate that bridge. Sounds like that's the job you're looking for?

I remember sitting at that bridge waiting as a kid. For some reason when I was a kid getting caught by the bridge was exciting.

I'd make sure my resume was out there on a few job boards, and get in contact with a recruiter. Before you do either, get a gameplan together, decide what it is specifically you want to do, and get a good resume together. Networking helps, too - like here on BF! Good luck - you'll find a gig you like.

I need a job as well. Anyone need any cheep product photography? I can shoot food as well. I would also take entry level anything that starts over 12 bucks an hour and does not involve sitting all day.

No luck so far. Thanks Cuda2k for your help. Someone hire me!
Here's some job search tips I've learned:
www.indeed.com is very handy. Its a search engine for only job listings.
Yahoo HotJobs is the easiest online place to apply for jobs. After you fill out your full profile
and upload your resume, all you have to do is click the 'apply' button on a listing. No need
to fill out stuff additional times.

We're looking for a receptionist for our insurance agency. Currently located in Euless (121 and 360) but moving to LBJ and Hillcrest in about 2 months. Mostly answering the phone, and some other "busy work" while the phone isn't ringing. Lady we have doing it now is about to quit because she knows we're about to move - and she just sits there and texts messages in between phone calls so we try to keep her busy making labels and file folders and stuff. This position probably doesn't pay a lot, but it does come with health insurance. I wouldn't swear to it, but I'll bet it pays $25k. 8 to 5, m-f. No weekends. No overtime. Any experience in an insurance agency environment would be a plus - and may have opportunities to move into a better paying position. Sounds exciting, huh?! Anyone interested? PM me if you want, or reply here!
