The powerade is something you want to take a sip of before you drink. The seem to mix for quantity, not quality. You never know what it will taste like. Depending on the rest stop you are at, some add extras like cookies and pickles or pickle juice and I think I remember one having pretzels. All have the bananas and oranges.

I was disappointed in the expo/ trade show. But really, if you've been in the bigger bike shops in the DFW area, you won't see much different at the trade show. Maybe if you don't have access to a large bike shop, it would be of more interest. I have read where people said they got some good deals there. It would help if the trade show was open late after the ride, so you could hit both in one day.

to anyone outside of texas, don't scoff at the pickle juice, nor the spicy pickles in the medic
tents. Both are probably better delivery systems for electrolytes than 3/4 of the sports drinks out there. The spicy pickles are excellent for alleviating cramping.
I'd also suggest some form of electrolyte drink mix in single serving packets ( I prefer Electro-Stamina)
to 'suppliment' the watered down stuff at the rest areas.

I've gotten some great buys at the expo in the past ( Exte Ondo shorts/bibs for less than $50.) but
the last time I was there the deals weren't so great.

Yeah, pickle juice is awesome stuff, and tastes pretty good. At least I think so. it's nice and salty!

Camelbak Elixir tablets are good for electrolyte replacement. They come in a little plastic tube that is easy to stick in a jersey pocket or underseat bag. I like the taste alot better than the NUUN or any of the other purely electrolyte beverages I have tried.

If anyone is interested, I JUST NOW canceled a 2-night motel reservation at the Travelodge in Wichita Falls [which is about a mile or so from the start]. The phone number is (940) 761-3400‎ if anyone wants to try and grab it. The reservation started on the 28th, with checkout on the 30th. Hope this helps someone out...

I have a free place to stay about 40 miles away, but I wouldn't mind being closer; how much was the room per night?

Maybe $120, but I had to book it for two nights, so $240 or so.

My buddy who was going to do HH100 with me busted his collarbone over the weekend so I now have 2 extra beds in my RV. I'm asking $150 for each bed for the weekend. I will be getting up there Friday morning and staying through Sunday. RV will be parked at the MPEC Center so you will be in the center of all activities. Give me a call if interested. I think they jump their rates for this event, and require multiple nights...it is THE tourist event in Wichita Falls.

Yep, they got you by the little money bags if you want to stay for the weekend. Something I have gotten used to over the years.

Since I canceled my reservation, my buddies and I are just going to drive up the morning of. Can anyone tell me if parking is going to be a pain? Any other advice for driving up for a first time HHH rider?

This is exactly why I don't support the in-town hotels - pure extortion, 'cause they can. We had a room up in Burkburnett last year, and paid for/used one night in a brand new hotel that had continental breakfast included in the rate.

If I do end up going this year, I'll just get up and drive from Frisco. Took me 2 hours 10 minutes last week to make this drive.

I just registered for my first HH100 and plan on driving up from DFW.

Anybody know how many people are driving up from DFW? Seems like a fairly long drive early in the morning before a very long bike race.

I drove up last year. I got there an hour before the start and parking was no problem then. (Lots of in-town people don't drive over that soon, I guess.) Just get to bed two or three hours early and the early start is no problem.

We do stay overnight and we are in the parking lot by 6:00. I have a spot in a different lot that I have parked in for the last 4 years. It has some trees to sit under after we get in from the ride. Early bird gets the shade.

Thanks for the heads up! I just booked a room. We had reservations at the Twilite Motel in Burkburnett (due to a recent change of plans), I think the Baymont Inn might be a little nicer. Thanks again.

Looks like the weather is going to be unbelieveable! The local forcasts show a cold front coming through Friday fropping highs to the low 90's!
