Border Town Shoot Out

Three of us rode The Texas Mountain Trail last week.

Spent one night here:

Spending the Fourth night in Presidio Texas.

We went for supper at The El Patio.

Most restaurants there seem to require that you go up to the cash register to pay.

I am standing in line, when I hear Quick Draw Shoot Out.

This big guy facing me is reaching for a weapon in a holster on his right side.

(I cannot believe this is happening to me)

I look at his weapon and it turns out to be a camera.

What a Great Relief.

I reach for my camera that is hanging around my neck.

Pow Flash

I Won!

Todd Beckett and his wife.

A Nice Guy. He Sells real estate.

The company I work for built two water tanks in Presidio long ago. One was a big standpipe that should be pretty obvious. I went out there twice, just drove from Dallas. It was a really neat area, I thought. Seems like in Presidio, the road through town was paved, and the city streets were not. Most of the houses looked like cinderblock construction. Just had quite a bit different feel to it than around here. I've also been out to Big Bend once on a scout trip, been up to Guadalupe Mountains NP three times.

You probably picked about the ideal time of year for that trip.

I see your avatar picture matches the color scheme of that third picture, I assume that was in the same place?

I was just out there for the Cycle Fest last year and I hope to make it again this year. There's some pretty country out that way and great riding.

That looks great! Would you mind sharing the route and stopover locations? Was there adequate resupply places for food and water? And last but not least, how were the road conditions?

So what was the weather like, how many pictures did you take, and when are we getting a full ride report?

But seriously, looks like fun. Just may consider doing it one day...

Thanks for sharing.

We hit the weather just right, 60* to 98* with No Rain and No High Winds

404 pics, waiting for pics from two others.

1394 car miles
750 bike miles
One Flat
One rider accident

The 98* Temps were much hotter then what it feels like in Houston
