Rental shop/bikeable neighborhoods? Dallas
Hey all,
I'm a courier from Montreal and I'm rolling into Dallas tomorrow night as part of my road trip (car) vacation. Silly me, I didn't bring a bike and I've been regretting it from NYC to Athens and presumably all the way back to MTL. Is there a decent shop in the uptown/arts district where I can rent a bike? Or is urban Dallas un-rideable? Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Its my first time off a bike for more than a week in years and I'm DYING! Thanks

Uptown and downtown are great for cycling. If you can ride in Montreal, I don't think you'll have any problems here.
It sounds like the closest bicycle shop will be West Village Bicycles. It's located, well, in The West Village. Just west of HWY 75 (Central Exwy) and Haskell. I don't know if they have rentals though. You can call them to find out214) 219-2453
If they don't rent bikes, take HWY 78 (Garland Rd) up to Old Gate Rd. If you get to Loop 12, (Buckner) you went too far. Richardson Bike Mart has scads of rentals. (214) 321-0705
How long are you in town for? You might be able to get a few riders together to give you a tour.

Richardson Bike Mart had some rental bikes at their location south of White Rock Lake, last time I was there.
