100 Miles of Nowhere

Is anyone else here signed up for the 100 Miles of Nowhere with Fat Cyclist?

I am signed up and will be doing it in Houston, most likely going in lots of circles around Picnic Loop over in Memorial Park. 84 laps around the full thing or 167 if you cut it in half.

If anyone else is in the area and is planning to do it give a shout and possibly ride together, I may be willing to change venues if you have somewhere better.

Why not mix in Terry Hershey / George Bush? One full roundtrip between Memorial - THP - GB is about 50 miles. I think I would go crazy if I had to go around the Picnic Loop more than half a dozen times in a row.

I signed up, and I'm planning to do 400 laps around a .25 mile trail that circles a pond in my neighborhood. Ridiculous, yes, but that is kinda the point.

You can start many places, at BW 8 near Memorial there is a parking lot, there is one just west of of Eldrige with access to Terry Hershey, There is one on Hwy 6 south of I-10 at the spillway, you can park your car on old Barker Cypress, or at the constables office and parking lot, and start there too. Lots of places to access the trails. From Fry rd to BW 8 it is approx 20 miles, so 40 both ways. My daily route is from Barker Cypress where I live to BW 8 and back and it is a 25 mile route.

The point of it is 100 miles of nowhere. Lots of people will be doing it on trainers, but if not on a trainer then some other tediously short route that would likely drive you crazy.

Alan, I am the one that also posted on the fat cyclist page and saw you respond but had not figured out how I would actually find out who you are.

400 laps, and I thought the 167 around memorial would be difficult. The advantage I saw with memorial was you could cheat a little bit and draft with some people that show up for their normal riding.

I may be willing to join up wherever if no others in the area are doing it.

Hey Raccoon, I figured you were the guy fom the original fatcyclist post. My main issue is that we have my son's 2nd borthday party that afternoon, so I may have to get started crazy early to be done in time. I'd love to join up and try to get a group somewhere, but I don't know if I'll have the time. BTW, have you received your shirt, etc. yet?

Nothing received yet, but I believe it said somewhere that it would not ship until late April sometime. You know by May it will start getting pretty warm, so starting early can be a good thing. I am just glad I don't have a mountain bike race that weekend, it surprisingly is off for me.

I think the roundabout/fountains at herman park or the washington one have no clue how many circles you would have to do.

Seriously scattered, are you trying to get someone killed? That would be on the edge of being a ****** (they block me from saying r.e.t.a.r.d) to ride in circles right there with the traffic and try to do 100 miles. You might even get arrested for going around that on washington!

Just recomending some small circles that go nowhere, thinking about it again the washington one would really suck because it is brick and that would get old real quick. If traffic is a concern then the monument by the reflection pond at herman park.
