Another Hit and Run in the News

I drive my car every day and I just don't understand how a person can be so inept behind the wheel that they hit a cyclist from behind. This is one of the few "hills" around Plano and there are always cyclists, including me, riding this area.

And the road can't be much more open with any more visibility than this:

The Ride of Silence facebook group also published this story, really hoping they catch this person and punish them to the full extent possible

were you with the group or in your car? I know the officer at the 711 took a statment from the guy that got hit. Hes okay not sure where human decency has gone. There was a lot of car agression that whole night. Ride got cutt off way early.

Well, hopefully the victim will followup. I ride through Lakewood and cross Abrams during my rides. Last thing I need is for a rogue driver to be on the loose.

Here is the police report

I was in the car (coming back from my ride). And I've seen the whole thing, so if victim needs , I can testify - it was clearly dangerous act of agression

Hey, I was the guy who was hit in Lakewood. Thanks to Yalc for pointing me here. Alexgri, I'll get your info in case this thing goes to court. I heard the Hit-and-Run Dept needs a little motivation to actually open an investigation, so I'll be following up with the officer and DA. I hope the actual printed report will contain more than what was released in the PDF above. I'd also like to see the charge get upgraded from FtSRA to Aggravated Assault. Perhaps with a Deadly Weapon?

I thought the license plate was 678-RBH, but I was pretty hyped up and it was getting dark. If you ride in Lakewood, watch out for this guy. Thanks for posting.

In Dallas, it takes 10 business days for the Dallas Police to generate an accident report. You have to go down to the main police HQ on Lamar to get one, they cost a few bucks but give detailed information. Usually 2 pages worth. The reports are only given to the parties involved. I would get a report to see where you stand. A couple years ago I was frickin' leveled by a car near the current Rusty Taco. The accident report had alot of useful information.

Document everything. Keep good notes. Take lots of pics.

They're getting quick; it used to take that long to get them to come out to a fight in progress.

The only way to put heat on the police is to get someone like Avi Adelman involved. He sometimes takes up the cause of things like this in the Lower Greenville Area.

Dallas police are looking for the driver responsible for a hit and run accident that left a bicyclist severely injured. The accident happened early Monday morning in the 6700 block of Gaston Avenue.

Kenny Lehman, 27, was severely injured.

Lehman told CBS 11 News he was out riding with a friend when the driver hit him. The two were biking around 1 a.m.; a time that Lehman says is the best to ride to avoid the heat.

Lehman was training for an upcoming bike ride, from Dallas to Austin, when the passing driver hit him. "Apparently, I was hit from behind, hit the hood of the vehicle, the hood of the vehicle, roof of the vehicle, fell off. He or she, the driver of the vehicle, pumped their breaks and continued driving," Lehman said of the accident that left him with multiple fractures.

In addition to severe road rash, Lehman sustained several fractures to his face, ribs and hip. He was hospitalized for three days at Baylor Medical Center.

Police have interviewed witnesses but have little information to go on. Anyone with information is asked to call Dallas police.

I met Kenny two days ago. At transit in Dallas. 1 hour after he got out ofmthe hospital. Couldn't meet a more positive or great guy.
He was severely messed up but he had a positive attitude.

Guys and gals. Lets find this *******!

I keep on thinking about kenny since I met him while I ride. Breaks my heart.
