Tyler area
Hello Texas forum,
I just mover to Tyler from the DFW area, and was curious about where people if any are riding. I am in south Tyler (69 and 49). Are there areas close to ride? seems like along 49 would be an okay place to ride, with its wide shoulders.
What local club rides are good?
Thanks in advance for all the help,
Aaron

I rode the Beauty and the Beast tour two years ago. That is the extent of my knowledge of cycling in the area. Anyway, I doubt there's much choice in club rides, so check into the first link above. And a good place to start without any other information is on the routes of the local charity rides, and that second link has the route maps for them.
If I remember right, that club is affiliated with the main bike store in town, and may start their rides there.
The "Beast" hill on that route is where FM 177 comes up to Hwy 69, with it being uphill coming to the west. That hill is long enough and steep enough to give you a good workout going up, or test your brakes going down, so use some caution there. Somebody was telling me that on the old route, there was a different "Beast" hill that was up north of Tyler, so there are other big hills in the area.
