First big(ger) training ride this year

I do a lot of solo stuff, but I do sign up for charity rides to keep riding around bigger groups of people.

I have one this week, http://www.kiwanishouston.org/. It is somewhat close to my house (less than a hour away), so I figured why not. It is a good way to see roads I have never been on before.

Next week I have Novemberfest Metric Century that starts in Brookshire. I signed up for the Century ride. Hopefully the hard rides I have been doing lately will shine through on that ride, making it easier. I'm crossing my fingers.

You guys have any charity rides that you never miss that are good ones to attend?

I love Bike Through the Forest and the Hills over in Coldspring. The hills are fun and everyone seems friendly and rather laid back. Of course, that is if you don't line up in the first group out (do a stagger start for safety). They push hard right out of the hole. hahaha

I haven't done any charity rides twice...there are plenty to choose from in the area and so I try to "spread the wealth" so to speak. This year I only got one charity ride...the Waco Wild West. From Houston, have you considered the MS150?

I'm doing my third MS150 in 2012. I really enjoy that ride. I always see new things out there and meet new people.

Its already passed, but I did the Wallis Independence Ride for the first time this year. Wallis is a little far from my side of town, but was neat to see the wounded vets get out and ride too!

I'm also doing the doughnut ride again. Love eating some doughnuts and riding a bicycle! (I'm a clyde LOLS).

Very flat ride through farm land, smooth roads except for some tire swallowing cracks in places (serious victim), lots of encouraging support from volunteers. I'm used to frequent climbs, so picking a gear with steady rhythm was a new experience.
