Renting in Houston + rides

Hello--

Can anyone recommend a good bike shop for renting a bike while visiting Houston? I'll be there from July 6 to July 9. I'm staying in NW/Cypress area, and would prefer something easy to get to from there, but if there's a compelling reason to go elsewhere, I could.

I ride a Specialized Tarmac. While it would be nice to get something similar, I'd be happy with nearly any decent road bike that has at least Tiagra-level components (I also prefer Shimano).

Also--anyone know any good group rides in that area? I'm not fast; mostly ride solo and hold 18-20 mph.

Thanks!

Thanks! I found them on my own and they replied very quickly. Sounds like they have something similar to my bike too

Any info on groups that ride in NW Houston on weekend mornings? I guess Bike Barn may have that too...

If you are looking at maps
Farm to Market Road 1488 is a designated cycling route

www.ridewithGPScom has many routes from Zube Park

select search and enter the town you are in ( Cypress)

lots of open country to the west of Cypress. convenience store are few and far between

Thanks for all the info!

I'm actually staying here:
Hilton Garden Inn-Houston NW, Willow Chase Boulevard, Houston, TX

Can you bike on Tomball Parkway, and if so would I want to? Looks like that goes all the way up to FM 1488. I'd rather ride from the hotel, but if it is easier to drive/park I'll do that.

To me, that's pretty bleedin' quick.

I'm lucky to hold 13 mph for 1.5 hours. But then again I'm a clyde on a hybrid and I just got back into riding.

Well I guess it is all relative. I rode with a group a few weeks ago here in AZ and got dropped -- big time. I was probably holding 20 or so, they took off and I think one guy said they were doing 25-28 during that stretch.

I've just been riding seriously since Dec, but I was running quite a bit prior to that. I also had a cyclocross bike, but upgraded to a proper roadbike and it makes a huge difference.

Let me know if anyone will be around Sunday morning for a ride in NW Houston.

Well I got a bike (Trek Madone w/105), and found a group to ride with this morning:

Tons and tons of riders out in SW Houston this morning! I don't think I've ever seen so many before.
