Moving to Austin, can I race every weekend?
I'm 25 and LOVE racing bikes. I've been doing well up here in the Northeast. My vegabond livestyle is calling again and I've got the travel bug. I'm thinking of moving to austin for a year or so.
I'm a not-for-profit professional with many years wrenching. bleh bleh
If I were to move to Austin, would I be able to expect to race EVER weekend, respect to days off work etc?

You can race every Thursday evening during the season: https://drivewayseries.com/Home/tabid/103/Default.aspx
There's lots more, but I don't know about EVERY weekend.

I asked a friend of mine who is a fanatic racer about bike racing events every weekend. He didn't think that would quite be possible.
He did say that you could find club rides most every weekend that would be quite fast-paced and of a competitive nature such that they would be tantamount to races.

Yes, pretty much, especially if you like cyclocross and mtb as well as road, you can race somewhere in the state every weekend. Add in 2 velodromes and half a dozen weeknight crits in the major cities, the limit is how much your legs and wallet can handle.

FWIW, Austin is cool and The Driveway is a top-notch venue and race series... but here in DFW we have 4 yes FOUR weeknight crits during the season. Plus a local world class velodrome and a very large and active mtb community.
