Quick, someone tell me what to do with my parents in Galveston tomorrow

Parents in from out of state. Never been. They want to go. What to do? Where to park & walk? What to see? (biking not an option)

park near and walk around The Strand. Railroad Museum. Moody Gardens. Elissa. 1900 Hurricane exhibition. Bishop's Palace (might be closed due to recent sale). Eat at Gaido's or Mosquito Cafe.

bkj has some good ideas. When we go we ride the ferry over to Bolivar and back. Park the car and walk on the ferry. We like to eat at Landry's on Seawall. The weather could be warmer Sunday so a walk on the seawall might be nice.

are there parking garages or lots where we can leave the car for 4 or 5 hours near the strand area? looks like the seawall is just a walking path along the highway.
is there no traditional boardwalk type area?

Ditto to riding the ferry!

No parking garages on the Stand but there are parking lots in the area. The easiest are beside the piers on Harborside Dr. Seawall is much more than a path. No boardwalk.

galveston is pretty dumpy. still hasn't recovered fully from Ike. not much to do either, really, if you're a tourist and you don't want to walk up and down the strand and shop for the usual touristy garbage. the pleasure pier is good if you've got kids that want to ride some rides, but other than that the seawall blvd is only good for walking/biking or if you want to hit the beach.

had a mega awesome meal at Landry's though.

don't foresee going back except to maybe bike the blvd.

I'm curious what else you would expect to find in a beach/tourist city.

I was there with my parents the entire week rented a house on a canal. Great time fishing and kayaking. Had a good ride to Freeport 40 mile trip from sea isle. I love it down there. It would be great to live there.
