I will be visiting Austin this weekend and would love to visit a local shop that might have some vintage steel available? mainly looking for a mixte for the gf or something cool for myself.

FrankenBike is a free bike swap meet held once a month in many cities of the US, that is open to anyone who wants to buy, sell or trade bicycles and bicycle related gear or parts.

If you can make it on Saturday, Austin's Yellow Bike project has a revolving selection of older bikes, either ready-to-ride or unfinished. Just don't expect to find replica bikes, their mission is to get bikes on the road, not rebuild with catalog-correct NOS parts (except for one guy).
The Bike Farm and Shift Gear Exchange are two shops that deal primarily with used bikes, not sure if they are open on weekends.
