Visiting Sugar Land, April 20- 24

I would like to get a ride or two in while I'm in Sugar Land. I'll be there for a conference and I don't know yet where I'm staying or much else other than the date. I will have to rent a bike because I won't be able to take my bike.

I'd like suggestions on any must do rides, bike shops that rent, or group rides that I could join. What is the terrain like?

I'd probably start and end my ride in Sugar Land, because of logistics. This is more complicated than when I was ran and could just step outside and run.

Suggestions on where not to go because of bad roads or traffic would also be appreciated.

FYI - I comfortable riding on busy roads if needed. My normal group ride is 16-18 mph and 30ish miles long. This is probably what I'll have for time.

thanks

Houston is flat as a pancake. Our hills are called freeway overpasses. Sugar Cycles is out that way they have rides. Tweet @331miles . He lives out that direction and can help point you in the right direction. For rides check my website for Texas bicycling events and news. Texbiker.net

Howdy,

There are 3 bike stores in the area. Sugar Cycles, Society Cycles and Bike Route. All are family owned businesses. Sugar has a very fast ride (20-25mph) but on the weekends only. Society may have a Wednesday night casual ride.

You should stay in the First Colony area so you can access the bike trails ( sugar lakes, oyster creek park and memorial sugar land park).

If you are unable to find a rental bike, you can borrow mine.

I'll be staying in the area of Hwy 6 and University.

SAGit, thanks for the tip on Society Cycles. A quick check shows they are nearby. Now I'm checking to see if they do rentals.
