Sooke to Duncan via Galloping Goose?

Has anyone ridden Sooke to Duncan via Galloping Goose north of Sooke? I know the trail stops at the old town of Leechtown but it looks like there are lots of logging roads that might get you to Duncan off of the trail.

The problem is there are lots of roads branching off everywhere, I can see where it might be easy to get lost.

Are bicycles even permitted on these roads?

The day before I will be coming from Victoria and would rather not back track though I guess I could take 14 back toward the east and eventually pick up 1 and some of the side roads.

I tried to do that route last year but was told that all that area is out-of-bounds. Something to do with it being the drinking water catchment area for Victoria.

Rowan and I have cycled part of that, but not on the Galloping Goose ... crossed from Brentwood Bay to Mill Bay on the ferry and then cycled backroads up to Duncan.

Yeah, that's more likely the route that I'd take. I really don't know about the roads past the Galloping Goose - one problem with logging roads is that it can be difficult to have accurate, up to date maps of them, particularly if there's been any logging activity recently. Roads get put to bed, new roads are built and it can be pretty confusing to navigate.
