Anyone heard of Vorlad?

Hi all ,
I'm interested in getting into touring but don't want to spend a bundle then find out that I don't enjoy it. I found an inexpensive, fully equipped bike that's specifically marketed as a touring bike. I'm hesitant to buy one though because I can find no reviews at all. It's called a Vorlad VT-03 VT03-vorlad
Anyone here have any information they'd care to share?

I've never heard of them. I'd be careful because the website is incomplete and it seems that last update was 6 months ago. Also their site has an important disclaimer on many pages:

The pictures and specification is for reference only, details refer to the real bikes

our local bike shop. look nice enough, but nothing special. i could check
it out next time i'm downtown if you have specific questions.

I wouldn't be buying sight unseen. There's a non retail seller near me that always has one of each model listed on Craig's list. Thing is I'm new to cycling and wouldn't know if I'm buying crap or not.

That sounds even more suspicious. I suggest watching for used bikes on ebay or craigslist until something with a track record pops up.

If you want to guarantee you won't enjoy touring, get a terrible bike.

nothing a'tall shady 'bout them addresses. it's just that they be
sendin' ya to the chinese interwebs, which is like a series of, like,
tubes, y'know, only they have these strange characters that
bikeforums canna display.

check the last two....those are pages of taobao (sorta like ebay)
sellers.

like i sayded, nothing really special about the bikes. they've got
generic frames, made in the same factories as other less generic
frames, just re-labeled. the component parts are all mid-range stuff.

should be okay bikes for light-duty touring.

Wasn't Vorlad one of the minor characters in Wagner's Ring cycle?

I think that's as likely as the possibility you've run into a reputable outfit on the web...

If you have a friend that knows bikes that you trust, ask him or her to go with you to take a look. If they are near you but don't let you see it, that sounds like a problem.

The Skookumchuck, aka The Skook, aka Sechelt Narrows is one of my favorite dive sites. YouTube "kayaking Sechelt Narrows" and consider being 90' below those squirt boats.

It's Chinook Pidgin-English.. Roughly, means: turbulent water or rapids in a stream or river.
