bike prices

You ever notice how cheap bikes are for really tall or short people on ebay?

Being 6'5, I can't say ice noticed eBay bikes in my size being cheap. I actually find then quite overpriced for the condition/quality of frame and components.

With that said, there is a common argument that small and larhe bikes are tough to sell and sell for lower prices than middle sized bikes because it's tough to sell them due to the limited market interested in buying them.
That could be true, but I often see the opposite, at least around me.
Large bikes don't seem any cheaper. And they sell just fine, assuming the price is reasonable.

The argument that prices are higher because the stock of available bikes is limited is quite intriguing, even though it isn't the popular argument.
54-58cm bikes are a dime a dozen and all over the place. So it would stand to reason that those sized bikes would sell for less since there is so much stock for each bike to compete against.
63-64cm bikes are very limited in quantity, so they could command a premium due to the scarcity.

Perhaps that theory doesn't play out, but I have found it does around here.

I guess I could post that the sky is blue when there are no clouds and someone would tell me I'm wrong. Here is what I'm talking about

Yup, I actually saw that. I hadn’t been on ebay for a few months to look at/for bikes and frames, but happened to look a few days ago and saw that frame.
Its an auction, not a buy it now- so just because the price is $150 now(its slightly more), doesn’t mean that’s what itll be tomorrow afternoon when the auction ends. Also, that frame and fork is actually $210 right now since you have to add in shipping.

I could list dozens of examples where large bikes arent any cheaper than their mid-sized counterparts in both my area and greater region.

But keeping with ebay and LHTs…
58 cm Surly Long Haul Trucker Frameset with Andel Crank and Other Original Parts | eBay
Here is a 58cm LHT frame, fork, headset, crankset, stem, and seatpost currently at $300 with free shipping. So for what is currently $90 more, you get all those components.
Is the 64cm frame really that cheap right now?
Obviously, the 58cm could shoot up in price thru bids, but since a current auction was used to prove your point, I figured that works the other way too.

I think the statement that the OP made is 1/2 true. When shopping for an XS bike for my wife, I had no trouble finding barely ridden bikes for bargain prices. I have a very difficult time finding XL/60cm+ bikes for me.

I'm 6'5" and I'd say it works in both ways. Sometimes I'm lucky and there'll be a 64cm bike up that nobody grabs, or the other side of the coin where it disappears almost instantly because of the uniqueness and rarity. Though I am thinking more of the complete bikes I'e seen than frames. Some great 64's disappear like the wind.

EDIT: Also I was only thinking road frames. Good XL+ Mountain bikes/frames are almost impossible. Being tall is a pain, hard to find shoes, bikes, good pants. But it's easy to hide things in hard to reach places.

That's not what I've seen over time: starting with a 61-63c frame size, once you begin adding a few desirable features--e.g., brand and material preferences, triple crank, etc., the selection drops to nada... which probably explains in part why I've never had a problem selling my old bikes.
