Good everyday + touring bike for petite woman?

Hello

I know someone who is 4ft12 (1m52) and is looking for a good quality bike that she can use for commuting and touring a couple of times a year (60-100km/day, 2-4 week-long tours).

For added comfort, she'd rather buy a steel frame instead of aluminum.

Her budget is upward of €800/$900, either new or a good second-hand.

I was wondering if you knew of any brand available in Europe that would fit. As an alternative, I was thinking of a minivélo, since they're smaller while popular in Asia.

Thanks for any hint.

4'12" is 5'...so plenty of bikes should fit.

A month ago I sold an 80s Raleigh road bike to a woman who was right at 5' and it was a 48cm measured c-t.

Save Up to 60% Off Touring Bikes | Commuting | Commuter Bikes | Motobecane Bikes - Gran Turismo for touring the country there is nothing better GET THIS! the 43cm bike is still in stock and itll pay homage to your country's cycling heritage...or insult everyone...either way.
Name aside, its spec'd really well and the 43cm with a 28.5" standover, which I would guess is pretty close to what would be needed.

Bob Jackson Cycles
This is a frame I would love to build up. Its 900 euro for the frame and fork though. Well above the listed budget, but its steel, quality made, very individual, and comes in 47cm.

Anyways, there are a lot of bikes that would fit and worst case- get a soulless LHT and have fun.

Definitely avoid large wheels (700c is too big, and will make the handlebar too high). Beyond that, I can't suggest anything, not knowing what's available in your area.

I think Soma's Mini Velo has 8 eyelets on the dropouts and also mid-fork eyelets. It looks classy and fast: https://www.flickr.com/search/?text=soma%20mini%20velo

Someone out there probably sells a 26" tourer with a step-through mixte frame.

Here's a chunky-looking step-thru Thorn Raven on this brochure, the front looks a bit tall though.: https://www.sjscycles.com/thornpdf/Th...urBroHiRes.pdf

Some manufacturers sell performance road bikes with smaller wheels for children: Performance Kids bikes at Raleigh

An amazing variety of mini-velos for sale here: Rakuten Global Market: Small Wheel Bicycles (Mini Velo) - Bicycle - Sports & Outdoors but couldn't find this beauty: https://ilovebikingsf.files.wordpres...-mini-velo.jpg

A good list from 2015 (ie current) here.

Don't get hung up on touring bikes needing drop bars, they don't. You can tour on trekking-style, butterfly bars and do away with all the issues of drop bar controls ( lack of low gears, integration with MTB components, long reach to controls, lack of bar-bag space on narrow bars.
Don't forget short cranks for short legs.

My GF is 4' 12" and rides the 42cm Surly Long Haul Trucker. Don't know if it's available in Europe.

A Thorn Raven size 420ST would surely fit the bill. Might be a reach in the pocket book but a solid bike.
