4 corners bike tour

Hello everyone,

I am planning a ride from Albuquerque to Moab and was wondering if anyone out there had any experience riding through that area? Most concerned about good or bad roads to take and water availability along the way.

Happy Biking,
Ryan

When you plan to go and what type of bike are important considerations for providing advice.

Looks like a nice route to me if you take Google map's suggestion. About 7 day ride max on US highways, which usually means some sort of shoulder. If camping, you'll need at least 6 liters of water to be comfortable between sources in a couple of sections. Of course, there'll be private homes along the way to tap. Do this late mid-late September for best weather.

I'm also planning a similar trip this fall.
Check out the Great Western Trail for route suggestions.
Also check out the Backcountry Discovery Trail, which is a series of motorcycle dirt roads and trails throughout the area.
I've heard of people riding to the Grand Canyon, and carrying their bikes from rim to rim over several trips. This highly intrigues me.

Are you living in SLC right now?

Thanks for the suggestions! I will be riding a trek 520, and going in mid september. I haven't made a decision on using front/rear rack or a trailer.
@max5480 I am living in SLC right now, would you be interested in getting out on some rides sometime and talking bike things?

@rsteenson I'm currently in California but am trying to get a tour together in the same area sometime between mid September and October. I don't remember why I asked if you were living in SLC. Looks like a fun trip and hope to see you on the road!
