how many bikes question.
In the last ten years or so how many bike have you guy's owned.
myself well lets see.
Raleigh 753 steel (still have it)
trek madone
look kx light
Thorn sherpa
Thorn 853 audax
Terry Dolan letape.
and in the last couple months im riding a Terry Dolan tandem with my buddy but he ownes it but it lives with me
if i were to rate them i would say the Raleigh would take some beating 30 years old and still perfect. the Thorn sherpa is heavy but a great bike for all day comfort, Look Trek and Dolan are flying machiens the audax was to big for me but a great bike ..
my dream bike would be a Lynsky tourer decked out in the finest top quality gear sure i might as well dream here as in bed.
cheers

We currently own over 20 bicycles between us ... but if you expand it to "over the past 10 years" ... oh, probably over 30.

Some of my bike hoarder friends have upwards of 100 bikes. I am the laggard in the group with only five. The oldest from 1965 and the newest from 1989. Only three of them get regular use for commuting, grocery shopping or touring. The others are used by guests visiting.
When asked how many bikes I have, I usually answer that revealing that state secret might get me committed for therapy. So I refuse to answer. (Don't tell anyone my answer above!)

I currently own six bicycles:
- two trek 520
- two trek 4500
- one trek 7.1 FX
- one lightfoot ranger recumbent
In past 10 years I have also owned:
- one Cannondale T1000
- one Easyracer Recumbent
In my defense , I don't own an automobile and the six bikes fit in less space in my garage than would be taken by an automobile. Two of the bikes used to be elsewhere (one in CO and one in India) but for various reasons I brought them both back. So, I could downsize back to four bikes without much difficulty, though I did recently decide to ride a different one to work each of five days of the week.
On my next long ride, most likely I will have one bike with me and up to three ready as "hot spares" if necessary can come back and swap in a different bike if the primary were to be damaged, stolen or otherwise unavailable. Also potentially to ride some segments on mountain bike and others on touring bike. I had something like that on my Australia trip when my frame cracked, I was able to come back to USA, swap in a different bike and return to Australia to continue.

I recently sold off several and am down to only 2, both cycle cross bikes, one that I've modified for touring and the other more general road riding. I just got tired of maintaining so many bikes (the wife has several). But that being said, I must admit I'm looking for a new project and something to build up this winter.

First bike was a Raleigh Port Townsend
Second frame for that bike was a Raleigh Furley.
Third frame for that bike (I know, Ship of Theseus) was a Soma Double Cross
And my second bike is a Karate Monkey.
I rebuilt the first Raleigh up with spare parts so technically, I have three bikes, but only two are functioning!

I suspect most people responding own more than the average person that posts here because I suspect those that own one or two did not bother to open this thread.
