Around Iceland in 11 mins

For anyone thinking about touring around Iceland and riding the Rt 1 Ring Road there is some nice information and videos of the annual non-stop Icelandic Ring Road ride (equivalent of RAAM) which is sponsored by WOW, an Icelandic discount airline. They give a nice idea of the route.

Cool! you did notice that it is the longest day of the summer, and it is raining, windy, and they are wearing warm clothes and full fingered gloves.

Oh yes I know, and it never gets really dark either.

Looks beautiful over there. I hear there's lots of hot springs over there?

Thanks for sharing!

Yes lots of hot springs and volcanos and also lots of wind and rain and scenery. It doesn't have many people though, the population is around 320,000 and 200,000 of those live in the Reykjavik region. So there just aren't many people around once you get out of the capital. This makes for long lonely days on the road and towards the East there's very little traffic. Gas stations and isolated farms are often your only places to resupply.

I was surprised by the video, I expected to see windshield wipers on a lot, never noticed them and never noticed rain on the windshield. But I certainly never saw much sun. Going there is on my to do list, with a lot of other things that may never get done.

Thanks for posting, great video.

The video shows just how few towns there are in the 850 mile round trip. Rt 1 also gets a bit "interesting" at times
