I was looking at Tent Guyline at REI and I seen that MSR ultralight utility cord is 50ft at $19.95 and MSR reflective ulitity cord 50ft is $22.95 and why is MSR cord not so Cheap??? and why is MSR Stuff so
expensive???
I started to use Tac Shield 550 paracod in olive green and sand tan is 100ft at $7.99 as my Tent Guyline doing Stealth Camping

I can't help you with your original question but I will offer my probably undesired opinion and that is I always change out all my tent guy lines to high vis orange, since it makes them so much easier to see and less likely to trip over. It really helps if you do any group touring where tents are often packed so closely together.

MSR is more expensive because the company decided to price their product higher for a multitude of reasons.
I love REI, but I can't imagine buying products there will be cheaper than elsewhere, typically speaking.

Paracord is pretty serious overkill for guylines. I might even take the paracord apart and use one of the inner strands. Or buy some mason twine from the hardware store and use that.
Or buy some purpose built guywire from Lawsons and support a small business.

Barely literate ?, its the reflective fibers woven in the braid-sleeve-outside the cord
so the flashlight reflects and at night, you dont trip over your guy lines.
aka 'Trip Ease' .. https://www.amazon.com/Kelty-TripTeas.../dp/B001ANPCSQ
they had to pay the cordage factory extra to get that feature, so you have to pony up the dosh to get it
and make them enough to stay in business another year.
money's more important ? get Mil-Surplus para cord..

Some excellent and inexpensive guyline is Western Filament Planer Board Line. I specify the maker, Western Filament, because other planer board line does not seem to have the stiffness or coating that makes this work so well.
Western Filament® Planer Board Line, 150 feet - 52790, Fishing Line at Sportsman's Guide
You can get 150 feet for $6 to $11 rated at either 130 lb or 200 lb. I use the 130 lb for guylines and hanging food bags.
This stuff is inexpensive compared to most guylines, lightweight (it floats), does not absorb water (so it does not gain weight during or after rain, good info for backpackers), and very tough. It holds knots and lashes well, and is somewhat stiff so does not tangle as easily as some other lines.
For the price, I think it is the best line available.

I do Stealth Camping alone in California and I am living on SSI and SSDI from USGov so the Tac Shield 100ft was $7.99 a lot cheaper then MSR Utility cord kit 50ft at $22.95

Rei does sell cord and webbing by the foot. Big Agnes uses reflectorized cord. And I really like the slick coated stuff for bear bagging. Get what you need don't worry so much about the cost.

It's the carbon fiber in the MSR lines that makes them more expensive and, frankly, superior, to the cheapo stuff you can get at Home Despot for $0.09/ft.

You can get 100 yds of some twisted/ braided mason line @ big box store for like $6-8.00 in pink.

750# breaking strength milspec paracord is pretty gross overkill for a UL tour IMO.
