I have been using Therm a Rest large pillows since 3-1998 and in 8/2013 I gone Therm a Rest med pillow and in 7/2015 I gone to Therm a Rest Small pillow 12x14 7oz Olive and in 8/2013 I started to used the Nemo fillo pillow 17X10.5X4in 9.2gm packed 6x4in packed

I am a side sleeper and I am using thermarest small pillow on top the Nemo fillo pillow

I have a couple but works best for me is to put all my clean clothes in a pillow case and sleep on it.

i'm using this one. it's pretty good. i am not rating it GREAT. but i'm a side sleeper and it's OK.

I started with the Exped inflatable pillow that everyone loves. It was OK but sometimes I have trouble falling asleep and after tossing and turning for a while it's less comfortable. I switched to the REI compressible (stuffed) pillow, which is much more like home and a nice treat at the end of a long day of riding.

Yes! a 2-3 oz blow up pillow, tucked into a Tshirt or something as pillowcase. If it gets cold enough that you're wearing all your clothes to sleep in, then you don't have anything for a pillow.

No, I just use fold some clothes, though I do understand that many find this uncomfortable.

If as squeezebox says I'm wearing all my clothes I just use my shoes or the edge of a pannier or whatever. Or nothing at all...

I've tried a lot of camp pillows, my favorite is the Kelty luxury pillow. It's down filled with a pocket you stuff with whatever. It's not exactly light or tiny, buts it's relatively cheap and super comfy.

I sleep on whatever soft clothes I can wad up.

Same here...A pillow is just another item I don't need be concerned about to loose.

Agreed. I put some soft items in a stuff bag and then wrap a fleece item around it so the outside surface is soft and breathable.

I wasn't crazy about the thermarest or other regular camp pillows that I tried. I found that fabric store pillows in a small size (maybe 1/4 the size of a small regular bed pillow) work pretty well and weigh maybe 7 ounces and cost 1/4 as much as most camp pillows. I figured that losing a few ounces would be nice so I started using a down vest in a shirt as a pillow and that worked OK, but if I needed to use the vest as insulation I couldn't use it as a pillow at the same time. Same with using other clothing, on the coldest nights I might use it all to keep warm. If I wanted a pillow on the coldest nights I'd have to carry a heavier sleeping bag.

I tried a variety of inflatables and hated them until I tried the Exped, which I like very well. That is the one I have stuck with. It is 3 ounces of pure comfort.

Any thing you Choose.. a Habit of sleeping on your Side , would make one Useful.

No. I sleep just fine on a rolled up jacket covered in a spare shirt. Pillows would just be dead weight for me, I'd rather save a few ounces.

In addition to my pillow I sometimes take my wife's in the middle of the night!

I use 2 or 3 camping pillows. 2 are placed into a normal-sized pillowcase. The third, if I bring one, might be placed between my knees when I lie on my side ... or beside me for an arm if I lie on my back, or possibly added to the collection under my head.

for my last big tour, I took a regular pillow that I had cut in half and sewn up again, although its relatively light and can be squashed down to be quite compact, I have moved towards UL touring lately, so foe me now its my spare riding clothes piled up under my head at night.

After pulling my sleeping bag out of the stuff sack, I'll just refill it with some clothes, or perhaps a jacket.

I use a Thermarest also, I think it's well worth the extra weight and expense. They're easy to wash out and clean at the end of a trip also.

+1. I did that for years then toyed with my GF's inflatable pillow (Cocoon) when she stopped touring. I have gone back to the sleeping bag stuff sack with clothes approach. On less thing to pack up in the morning.

med pillow with Nemo fillo pillow (Air) and 7/2015 now using Thermarest Small pillow with Nemo fillo pillow since I am a side sleeper I use two pillows and both go in my ortlieb rack pack large bag

[MENTION=415870]Biketouringhobo[/MENTION] - i'll have to check the NEMO out. the REI Cocoon is slick nylon or silk-ish on one side and felt-ish on the other. I'm sure it's so a persons noggin can slide when they move and keep the pillow in place, but it just doesn't seem to work GREAT for me. and when your hiking or biking or touring, good sleep is just crucial, which is why there's so many responses about a pillow !

I love the Nemo fillo pillow

I use an Exped down/air pillow. The core is air for support, and the outer is down-filled for comfort. Best ever!
