Continental divide: Fargo and ECR experiences?

I see that Josh Kato won the Tour last year on his Fargo. I've been hankering for an ECR, mainly for something to ride in Michigan during the snow. The CDT has been on mind for the past year.

Anyone have experiences on these two machines on a similar route? ECR too big and lumbering or smooth and comfortable?
