Depends on where you are or what you are doing. I'll be damned, if the need arose, if I am typing my credit card number or entering personal information into a public computer (i.e., booking the next nights accommodations on a CC tour)

After our cross-country tour, I let my daughter keep the netbook we took. I figured I'd got my money's worth out of it, and anything it did for her was gravy. (So naturally it lasted her another 4-5 years!)

I'm not personally sold on "smartphones are just mini computers" idea. It certainly can be done, I did it last trip because my battery crapped out before and I didn't have time to replace it, but given the choice, I'd rather just pack my Windows tablet if I knew such things were going to happen.
