That makes sense, going by size. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed mosquitos being striped before, that’s what confoozled me. 🤔😉

Doug, is that Irish Coffee?
That's a condition called "mosquito drunk"... I've seen it before. Usually when mossies target patrons near bars and taverns on humid summer nights.
Roll it 3/4 prone and take away the car keys.

Fun photo Doug. Have had this happen numerous times.

And in other related news, my best friend and I once crawled up into and sat in the cockpit of a Mosquito.
and one of our long gone neighbours, original owner of that house, once told and showed me that his basement wall panelling was war surplus sheets destined to make more Mozzies, but sold cheap when he bought the place and he used them for the basement...
I used to visit an old fellow who had been a navigator in Lancasters, and we used to talk about stuff, and the Pathfinders group with Mosquitos came up a few times.

there, I've put you all to sleep....night

PedalingWalrus 04-28-20 06:32 AM

We went out last weekend...everything closed so we just biked from home towards the mountains and found an ATV dirt road in the woods where we pitched our tent for the night. It was all good until I woke up at night to huge rumble of a truck engine and tires tearing up the dirt...as the truck sped through the corner where we were pitched I heard him exclaim yippee ...

Luckily the truck did not do more rounds. My spouse slept through the whole thing unaware. Lucky soul. :-)

Nice that you got out. Here the buds are just starting to get bigger and on a walk yesterday, saw some teeny tiny leaves peeking out of some.

stardognine 04-28-20 10:47 AM

^^^ Yippeeeeee!!! Of course, it’s only proper to yell that, on the downhills. But you can always just borrow one, if ya need to. 😁

Hey, are we all talkin’ about the same kind of buds? I’m down to about a quarter of Hawaiian, gotta re-stock soon. 😎😉

You're the Cheech and Chong of this forum ;-)

I don't partake, have no urge, even with it legal now.
Heck, I hardly drink.

Whatever works, bro. 😎 I’m an alcoholic, so I put that down many years ago now. I can handle booze, but it handles me a lot worse. 🤔🙄😉

Cannabis is good medicine, for a lot of things. I mostly medicate for arthritis & depression. 👍

Good thing I stopped & adjusted my brakes awhile ago. From Stallion Springs to Arvin (both in California, lol) is about 22 miles, with close to 4000 feet of downhills. 😎 Stallion Springs is kinda like Smucker’s. With a name like that, it HAS to be good. Right? 😁 It’s pretty good, if you grab a burger & fries at P-Dub’s, anyways. 👍

Unless I crash, lol. 😁😉 If you leave town the right way, you get to see the covered wooden bridge, which is right by Horse Thief Park. That just has a nice ring to it, but no pics, it’s very small, & several locals were there, fishing & what not. 😎

And here’s the other side, going into Arvin. 😎 I’m pretty tired, lol, might not make it into town. 🤔😁😉

Well star, I hope being out on the road helps with things, and the same for coming on here for the social interaction.
Safe traveling during these very special and fraught times.

thanks Doug, but really, how could I resist that, it was served up on a silver platter. Have a good Sunday. Still very much social distancing here but not impeding on riding, which makes all the difference for me.

Cool. I’ve never bicycle toured in New Hampshire, but one of my sisters married a New Hampshire guy, so I’ve been through there a bit. 👍

Speaking of Cheech & Chong, I scored an ounce yesterday, from a Chinese dude who looked a heck of a lot like Tommy Chong. 😎😁😎

hi Doug. Where is the Czech Republic was this?

djb 05-04-20 07:19 AM

Hey PW, is that rear single tall narrow vertically mounted bag a jury rigged drybag? It looks like it but has the same camo design as the other stuff.

It was somewhere between Karlovy Vary and Cheb on the western side of the country. From the time the picture was taken, it looks like it was just west of Karlovy Vary. We were heading west toward the German border. My wife keeps great journals; all I need is the date and time of the photo, and I can get good information easily from her journals.

PedalingWalrus 05-04-20 02:45 PM

This is the first time I have tried to attach it to the rear rack. It works pretty good but I plan on improving the the top attachment.

It is a pair of bags made for truss fork but I thought they would work well on a rear rack too...work in progress 😀

righto
guess the main thing is to be sure that a strap wont go into the rear spokes if it loosens
