yes that's great and cool for bike touring.... but sometimes also sad when you see that in small villages only a handful of people live, and the rest has left. Rural flight is a big problem in many rural places here in Spain.

but my comment was really just referring to riding through vast, open areas. I find that feeling to be really neat.

I screwed up. This picture I originally posted was not one of the eagle pictures I took in Montana while riding with my with my daughter on the way home from a week long tour with our daughters. My wife caught my error. This picture was taken while we were hiking around a nearby lake. I apologize for the misrepresentation.
We were definitely not on a tour when this picture was taken.

Doug, I'm trying to find a joke somehow connected to that kinda weird expression, "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" , but something along the lines of your grave misrepresentation staying between you and the bird.....
but I'm not being successful!......

In parts ""spanish lapland"" Teruel, Soria, Cuenca there are big parts where only 0,86 people live per square km!

A couple photos of a few friends and I hitting the trail last week. Colder than average temps created both significant frost and fog in the mornings, while a colorful change in the foliage could be seen in the afternoon.

A few pics from a shortened trip on the Columbia and Western railtrail in first week of Oct 2021. Achilles swelled up and stopped the ride. Too bad, trail was wonderful. One of the tunnels was almost a kilometer long!

So, what was your intended full route? Vancouver through Kelowna and through to ~Fort MacLeod, perhaps?
It's been a long time since I've been in the area, though it was only in a vehicle with frequent stops along the way to hike around and view the beauty in the mountains.

We intended to join up with the Kettle Valley Railtrail in Midway, then 4 days to Penticton, then either one more day to Osoyoos or 2 or 3 days to Princeton. Definately going back next year. A great deal of these 2 trails takes you away from the roads and through some beautiful country.

Of course, narrow as it is, I imagine that with a few cars or fog along the route that road would quickly change its character.
Beautiful, even with that.
