Where to get bike boxes in Oslo?
Flying to Oslo in a few days for a 2 week tour of the hinterland. We'll need two boxes for the return journey. Does anyone know any bike shops in Oslo that are particularly tourist-friendly and might be able to supply a couple? We have 3 days in Oslo before heading off, but only one day (a Saturday) before flying back.
Thanks,
Steve

You could try Crankenhous:
Sykkelbutikk ? KRANKENHAUS
Tell them they get praises in the BF if they help you.

Clas Ohlson plus at least one chain sports shop selling bikes are actually in the Oslo city. This is linked to the train station (i expect you are taking the train to the airport) more or less. Both selling bikes. Not sure how long they keep the boxes. I bet they are paying a lot pr m2 so not waisting any space on boxes and stuff. Strong tape (the armed silver one) you can buy at Clas Ohlson. One person watch the bikes one person go inside.
There is a lot of trouble with trains the comming weeks, starting from monday August 1st becouse of maintenance work on train rails. Expect to be told to take a bus that has replaced the train called Buss for tog. Do not box the bikes until you know exactely where to load them onto a bus or train or you may end up carrying them several hundred meters. Start off at least one hour earlyer than normal.
Good luck.

See If SAS Will sell You one at the check in counter ..
I bought a Box from KLM, riding right up to the AMS/'Shiphol' Airport .
They are bigger than Shipping cartons that bikes come in To Bike Shops, and so were easier to pack the Bike into..

Ah, thanks for the responses - didn't see these in time. I had a lot of trouble contacting the actual airlines at the airport. In the end here's what I learnt (for future Googlers):
- most bike shops have boxes Monday to Friday, which was inconvenient for us (we were getting back to Oslo on the Saturday, and flying out Sunday).
- We got boxes from BikeBrothers because they were closest to where we were staying (Scandic Solli)
- In the end the safest thing for us was to get boxes before we left Oslo, and left them with the hotel for 2 weeks.
