Entry Level Tourer
I have always used racers before but am interested in starting touring - is there any good entry level brands that might suit a £400 - £700 budget?

trek, fuji and giant all make good tourers, and i'm sure some of the other well known brands do as well. i'm not exactly sure of the conversion to dollars, but i think any of the 3 i mentioned will fit in your budget. treks touring bike in the states is the 520, not sure on the names for the other brands, but shouldn't be hard to find on the web site.
also some really nice touring bikes come out of britian, not sure on names or prices, but i'm sure there will be other responses that name them, and they are worth looking at.

Edinburgh bike shop have entry-level tourers starting at a good price or go to "Bike Shed and look at last year's models which are good value for money. Dawes paticularly the "Sardar" is well thought of but you will find the Galaxy there also.

I just bought a Fuji Touring bike and it is a great bike for the price. I used to own a TREK 520, but now much prefer the Fuji.
