Cross Country Route Question
Hey everyone!
I'll be doing a cross country ride this summer starting in Santa Monica, Ca. taking route 66 to about Springfield, Missouri...what I'm trying to find is a good route from Springfield to Charleston, NC.
See attached map.
Thanks!

Adventure Cycling's route network may help you out: https://www.adventurecycling.org/rou...e-network-map/
Looks like you can take the Trans America route to get to N Carolina.

Just to Charlotte and not to the coast?
Have you ever been to Ocracoke Island? Oooooooh - -
Lovely ferry ride from Swan Quarter or Cedar Island out to Ocracoke.
2+ hours - $3 for bike & rider - best ferry deal in the US of A.
Used to live in Chapel Hill.
From the TransAm at Damascus, Virginia - get on the Virginia Creeper Trail - sweet.
Then US 58 via Grayson Highlands to Mouth of Wilson.
Virginia Creeper Trail Maps
In North Carolina there are many designated bike routes on back roads -
https://www.ncdot.gov/bikeped/ncbikeways/
(Unfortunately, none head down from NW NC to Charlotte.)
Bike Route 4 - The North Line Trace - Which you could take all the way to the coast -
Cutting down thru Edenton to Swan Quarter and then Ocracoke.
(Spanish moss and alligators at Merchants Millpond SP)
