I can't post a URL yet so do a search for GOOD TO GO camping meals made in Maine I buy mine at REI and Kittery Trading Post,, some of them say vegan and gluten free on them (classic marinara Penne) and they would be a great choice for an emergency back up I think,,, these are the best tasting meals I have found as far as the bag meals go.

I've been a vegan for over thirty years and been multi-month touring many times...
I do all my cooking on a mini-trangia, and am carrying a fair amount of food weight:
Basic and boring day in day out menu:
Breakfast: porridge and a banana.
Daytime: bananas, oranges, bread, trail mix
Evening : rice and canned beans (or tofu) with olive oil and tabasco.
Basically what I eat at home too... so I think I could live on this forever, uh, because I do

what about small pickling jars and you make up some meals at home for real cheap money then just re-heat or eat cold right out of the jar,,, forgive me too because I'm not a total vegan but I do like some vegan dishes

curious what are you getting most of your body fuel from out of that or what is the main Ingredient for you in a long ride,,, not a follower of him but Durian says carb the F up!! but I also hear don't over carb for causal pace touring,,, man its not as easy as it would seem.......I try to eat a lot of bananas, grapefruit, oranges and of course my bag meals which eliminates all the head scratching so to speak.... but that small pickling jar I mentioned might be a way to bring some grilled peppers mushrooms and onions, not sure if its ride worthy but I'm a sucker for grilled veggies...

That would be good for a short term tour, but anything longer than a week long tour would require too much to carry!

I'm 5'8", 150 lbs and tend to lose 10 lbs or so on a 3 month tour.
