Something similar to the ADV 2.1?
I've been looking at REI for about a month, and it appears that the ADV 2.1/Safari has been discontinued.
I test road it a while ago, and loved the long wheel base on the bike (1175mm for an XL) and haven't been able to find something similar in that price range. Only bike that looks similar is the Jones Plus bikes, but they are well out of my price range. |
I saw that, but is it actually discontinue, or is it just one of those things where they take it offline until next years come out?
If it is, I know my local REI still had them in stock a few days ago, maybe try going in and having them transfer one in? |
That was my plan, but my store said that their weren't any near by. I'll try asking if they can expand the search a little bit.
|
REI is very "season" driven. They are now moving in their fall/winter season stuff and are clearing their bike stuff. The Safari/2.1 is "discontinued" until next season. They'll start offering them again in March or April. But they should be on clearance price right now. See if you can order one online. Also I think the Surly Troll is pretty similar. I'm not sure how they compare in price. The Surly may be a little more.
|
I went to Philadelphia (129 mile ride) to pick one up and the last one was gone. I asked and was told they would be back next season but will cost a bit more than this years model no doubt, they sold a lot of them.

The ADV 2.1 is in stock but only XL
If XL is what you're looking for then as of today (9/25) it's available. It looks like a 2017 because it's in the same cinnamon color. Alas, no other sizes (I was hoping for a medium).

FWIW, I was in my local REIs this weekend, they still had some on the floor, think they were all M though. |

If they drop the price even more; last year they clearanced the Novaras at 20-25% off, but there's a chance of them selling out 2. If the 3.1/3.2 models of next year borrow more from the 2.1 than the 3.1 - REI is killing off the 2.1 https://www.bikeforums.net/19904464-post89.html By the way, the 2.1 has been in/out of stock since the beginning of summer. It all makes sense now. |

buy something that you can change components on and get it to be functionally like the bike with the features you want ..
Other than the frame everything is interchangeable parts, but really the frame is replaceable too. Bene Sugg; use numbered measurements, which M, L, and XL are not.. |
Down to $823, only M and XL left online.

I have the Co-op ADV 2.1 and I love it! I'm mostly a daily commuter, I carry all of my work gear but I'm looking for a couple of people to begin over night tours and hopefully start longer tours.
