VIDEO: Eurovelo 1 - London to Cork, Ireland - Bicycle adventure

Hey,

If anyone happens to be interested, I've created a little video of myself cycling from London to Cork in Ireland.

The tour went through; London, Oxford, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea, Fishguard, -Ireland - Rosslare Harbour, Waterford and Cork.

I followed the new Eurovelo cycle route 1 through Ireland (was realised this year) and in South Wales. Really enjoyed the trip, was my favorite tour yet.

I mainly tried to focus on filming scenery and stuff, so I hope you enjoy the video if your interested.

The plan was to get to the west coast of Ireland to a popular town called Dingle, but the forecast had rain for 7 days so I ended the trip in Cork. But was a very nice city.

More than happy to answer any questions as well if you had any.

Cheers & Happy touring,
Rob

Enjoyed it.

Why is there Scottish music for the Irish leg?

Hi Robbie ,

Enjoyed your video. I am planning on doing this trip but in reverse from Cork to London. I am wondering how well those sustrans national routes are signposted in the UK or would you recommend maps and/or a garmin ? , its route 4 from London to Fishguard I am interested in .

Hi,

While I have not done the fishguard to London bit the Sustrans/UK cycle network is pretty well signposted in general.
I cycled through Wales a few years back and the signs were easy enough to follow.

I would recommend having a gps route on a smartphone (a garmin is not necessary if you dont have one already)

Thanks mate and fair enough hope you enjoy the ride to London Sustrans national routes are not sign posted well in the UK, you can often get lost without a gps / maps in my experience... as there are quite a few missing signs and they aren't always that obvious (i.e. small little stickers on lamp posts). I have a garmin etrex 30, they are great as they run on double a batteries which you can find all over the place. I would recommend this gps. Cheers Rob
