Spares get electrical taped on top of the drive side chain stay. Spare spokes and stay protector in one.

I carry a Unior cassette *******. It is less than an ounce and removes the cassette just fine. It has a built in spoke wrench that is the correct size for many bikes. Check that the wrench fits your spokes and don't over tighten the cassette before the trip.

BTW, If carrying spare spokes I recommend carrying several. If you have spoke problems it can involve multiple spokes. I once had one of the bolts that hold the cluster together get loose and back out, scoring the spokes. Somehow it stayed in place when I took the cassette off so I didn't see what was happening. I had spokes popping left and right for a while until I figured out what was going on. I have also seen road debris get into the wheel and break multiple spokes.

I like the idea of z bend spare spokes, but have not used them. It seems like they would be as easy or easier than a fiber fix to use while still having the advantage of not needing to remove the cassette. I keep threatening to buy or make a tool to make a z bend and make up some spare spokes.

Haven't needed a spoke wrench in a while. I have multitool that has a set though. I might pack some spokes if I'm travelling more than two weeks.

I taped several of each size to down tube didn’t add much weight and out of the way thankfully I didn’t break any spokes in 3 trips across the country

I always carried my spare spokes in the handle bars, get a slight bend in them, but it straightens right out when you tension them.
