Anyone toured with bicycles on the CAT ferry Portland maine to Yarmouth Nova Scotia?

The cat ferry website makes no mention of bicycles

I used a lot of roll on roll off Ferries in Europe and the British Isles..
long overnight ones are fun.. Not cruise ship fun , though..

I took the Cat years ago when that vessel made the now discontinued trip from Bar Harbor. A fast ferry, bring your dramamine!

Back then the trip from Portland was on the Scotia Prince, a slow overnight ferry with cabins. A few years later a luxury ship, the Nova Star, took over. It lasted only two seasons and now the Cat is doing the Portland run.

I called the number but there is only a voice message saying the season is over.

yes it does $15=off season, $20 for peak

BTW: I've never seen ferries-that-allow-cars, to not allow bicycles. If the don't mention bicycles in their fare-tables then bikes are usually gratis w/ pedestrian-only fare.

Wonderful ride from Halifax to (around) Cape Breton. We rented a car following Cape Breton and drove back to Halifax. One of my favorite tours.

Quite a few years ago, I took the Scotia Prince ferry overnight from Portland ME to Yarmouth, NS.

Apparently it was being promoted locally in Maine as a "mini-cruise" where one could make a long weekend trip to Yarmouth with added attraction of gambling once the ship was in international waters.

To add to this motif, as I boarded with my bike, there was someone selling drinks with little umbrellas in them.

I hear a woman ahead of me discretely ask about dress for the dinner meal. Not sure what the answer was, but my thought was hopefully I didn't end up at her table with my bike trip clothes...

Copenhagen on the Baltic to a Polish port, in 91, was still very basic, , no customer service other than getting you there.

I took that same ferry many years ago, as well. I noticed the little umbrellas in the tropical drinks, too. I was astonished that there actually were some folks who took the ferry as a pleasure trip and didn't even overnight in Yarmouth.

The trip is now planned sometime around the end of June. We'll take the ferry and do a 3-4 day circle clockwise. There are bike trails but also nice roads through fishing villages. I imagine we'll do a combination of both. Thanks for all the advice. Cheers. :-)
