Hub 'n Spoke Eastern Thailand
finally got around to taking a short trip to the cambodian border, put off due to songkran (drunk drivers) chinese new year (chinese tourists), and filing thai taxes......
last weekend took the milkrun from bangkok to aranyaprathet in sa kaeo province, one of the major crossings into cambodia. the four hour train ride cost $1.50 (3rd class) + $3.00 bicycle fee. no baggage car, so loaded the bike into the passenger car (in the reserved for monks section).
booked a $10 room on agoda.com for 4 nights, (AC, hot water, 450 channels of satellite TV with 2 english channels), so for once didn't have to carry all my stuff on the bike.

spent 4 days riding loops in the countryside, visiting border markets, temples, and eating many delicious foods. only did short rides, 50-70 km, plenty of stops for sightseeing and rehydration....temps were 35-40 degrees celcius.

nice to get out of the polllution and heavy bangkok traffic! the empty roads were even emptier along the restricted access border roads. access restricted to farmers with permit only, or cyclists if the border guards were in a good mood.
for those worried about where to "go".......better hold it! don't want to wander off the highway right of way into the bushes........

Nice pics as usual! I'd love to get to that part of the world sometime.
And yeah, I'd probably hold it over taking a leak in a minefield

Looks like fun, prices are surprisingly low given Thailand's big tourism industry & the general prosperity there.
