Good deal: 54 LHT S&S near Cleveland

Found this in CL search, too far from me but looks like a good deal at $500. Appears to be a retrofit S&S, not a LHT Deluxe:

It depends on if you want the S&S couplers. You can get a new LHT frameset for that price. If you want the couplers, then yes, it's a heck of a deal since a retrofit by itself will cost more than that.

Take a good look at the couplers' locations. The coupler on the top tube seems to be a long way from the seat tube. On my wife's bile her top tube coupler is ony 3" from the seat tube. It looks like whoever did the work did not want to relocate the rear cable guide. Also look at the paint job around the couplers. Coupler installation usually requires a new paint job. What is on the seat tube in the photo? You may have a problem getting it into a 26"x 26"' case to meet airline requirements.

Great Deal if.

He can demonstrate putting the frame together and apart for you and its easy to do.

Also, be sure to test for frame flex. Normally this is best done by riding the bike but in this case you can place it on a table and feel for movement.

I am the owner of the frame on Craigslist. As for the condition of the finish, BikenBi re-powder coated the frame after they installed the S&S couplers.
We took it to Europe in 2016 so it passed the airline regards.
My wife's is now riding a Dutch touring bike. So this one is on a hook with a free other frams.
I work in a bike shop so if someone is interested in this frame itcwouit be well packed for shipping! Might even split the shipping cost.
