I'll try to help. $400 is a lot to pay for that used Trek, even in my market here in the summertime, when everyone seems to want a bicycle. Most people don't want suspension forks for touring. You would probably do better asking about the Trek in the hybrid category. People tour on anything, though, and that 7500 is more suited to the task than most bicycles. I bought a used 7500fx recently, not for myself, but seems like a good, reasonably light bicycle perfectly suited for some light touring once you add fenders and racks. If you ride it hard enough to break it, then you'll know you need a real touring bike. |

The frame geometry is geared more towards style than carrying loads or comfort for distances. Same with the Norco. That fork on the Norco is crap, btw. If you have $400-$500 to spend, why not try to find a Trek 520 or Miyata 1000 on Craigslist? I've seen Surly Crosschecks for $300, and Long Haul Truckers for $599... https://www.bikeforums.net/touring/1...surly-lht.html Everyone here will admit that you can tour on anything, even a unicycle, but you'll be better off with a real touring bike imho. |
