Nah, actually paid $1799 during Trek Summer Sale :thumb:, Just an awesome do it all bike! Loving our 920’s! I've always thought the frame seemed nice. I (like others here) am skeptical of the 28 spokes for long-term self-supported touring, especially back-country. But I'm open-minded. CURIOSITY: Have you toured on it yet? Any touring particulars to report? |

I have not toured on it yet. My wife also rides a 920, she retires in 6 days, so we are going to get busy traveling and living! Looking forward to the field reports. |

Good for you, buddy! The sweet life if just ahead. My wife still works for a couple more years, but I'm retired now and doing all the stuff that WILL NOT get in the way when she retires!

Giant Toughroad SLR 1
Just to throw another bike into the discussion. I don't own one, but when I first saw it at the LBS, I fell in love.

Color: Matte Sandstorm. Sounds dangerous. Looks more like beige to me. What irks me about Trek is their lame marketing. I guess some people buy into it, though. I agree Trek skimps on the wheels, which is probably the most common point of failure on a touring bike. It would be nice if they offered touring-grade wheels as an option. And what’s with the floating rock behind the front wheel? |
