Free promotion for touring!
Hey everyone! If you look kind of closely on the right side of the pic to the story, you'll see a loaded touring bike! I wonder where she was going.

As well as the second one in the background toward the left. Were the two Americans bike tourers?
|
Wild coincidence - I was there just hours earlier! I saw tons of tourers in Amsterdam, France, and Croatia over the past few weeks, but no terrorists, fortunately.

The couple by the second bike don't seem very impressed, enjoying their coffee. It's seems to be the trend in Europe the last year: Not very 'successful' terrorist attacks by people from who it's unclear if they did it because of their muslim conviction or because of mental issues, or both. |
Nothing promotes touring like seeing someone on the ground with fire arms pointed at them near a touring bike and also having a story about a dude stabbing people (and yes I recognize the person in the photo with fire arms pointed at them is the one who is suspected). That photo doesn't inspire touring confidence but cool to see touring bikes.

Central Station in Amsterdam is packed pretty much from dawn til midnight. The fact that the guy "only" stabbed 2 people before being taken out of commission by the Police actually inspires confidence in me. What it is a promotion for is the fantastic service that the Dutch train system provides for bikes. Travel on just about any train in the country for the princely sum of Euro 6,20 per day! (for the bike - you're extra :) ). No boxing. Can oftentimes leave all the bags on the bikes. A maximum of a couple of steps to mount to enter/exit the train, depending on the train, and most stations have lifts to the platforms. |

That seems cool, I might have to visit there sometime. |
