I use a Mountain Myrricle mounted on a light clamp under the brake hood and it works very well. The clamp should go under the tape.

and just measured my mirror, its 27mmx35mm

so it would appear that both have mirrors that are the same width, 2mm longer than my old one, but they diff in height of mirror--so ultimately, they have the same side to side view, but the shorter compact one may be less obstrusive to peoples vision.
AND as the main rod is shorter, still not sure if for me this would be better or worse.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Here's the two Take A Look mirrors side by side. You can see why I like the compact one more.

Thanks for those pictures John.

Does attaching the mirror to your glasses not weigh down on your nose or rub the side of your head? If I get the compact I will be attaching them to some thick style prescription glasses. I'm worrying it may dig into my temple over a long ride.

I suppose it matters a bit what the glasses are. I use Rudy Project Rydons and because of the triangular shape of the bow, I have to have the prongs that hold the mirror to the bow come in horizontally. I did discover though that by popping off the RP logo piece that happened accidentally one day, that I could mount the prongs vertically. Either works though and once positioned is solid. I always forget that I have the mirror attached to my glasses so I'd have to say that it isn't noticeable or matter. I would have to believe that the compact is better at this than the regular because there is less wire which means less weight and leverage. There is also about half the glass in the compact which would also help.

I guess it will matter how much space is between your head and the bow. but if you mount them vertically (the recommended way) I would be surprised if you'd have a problem.

So the short answer is: No, I don't even notice them on my glasses but that may be partly the glasses I use. I don't think they'd dig in to your head if you mount it as recommended.

I went for the original in the end. It was a 50/50 decision as I really wasn't sure what would be for the best. There is not a lot of information about this product and I couldn't even find an email address for the company to ask them. So in the end I decided I would rather have it helmet mounted and went for the original.

I guess it's a case of suck it and see.

I haven't read through the whole thread, but I use an old RhodeGear mirror that clips on over the brake hood. I get it where I want it and the affix it with electrical tape.

I used those mirrors for years, worked fairly well but was never super keen on the vibration issues and the slight wide angle/convex aspect of the mirror that makes it harder to judge distances. My first one got smashed in an accident and still have the replacement , but it didnt fit over the newer fatter sti hoods , so its been in a drawer for probably 10 years or more.
The velcro atttachment system always worked really well I found.

I LOVE the EVT Safe Zone. Very sturdy & adjustable, the large mirror makes it easier to see behind. Approaching intersections I have to move my head just a bit to see ~10 o'clock. IMO that small inconvenience is worth it.

I used one of these on my last trip to Japan. Of course there it was mounted on the right. I found it gave me a satisfactory rear view. I could never get used to the helmet/glasses mirrors. It always surprised the s—t out of me when I would accidentally glance at it.

It's funny cuz 30 years ago I tried a helmet mirror and really didn't like it, but have no problem now with it after the initial few days at first. I figure that having spent decades looking through a camera eyepiece with one eye and often checking out the room with my other eye during press conferences and whatnot, I was very comfortable with switching my view point.

But can certainly see that concern. I simply find the pluses outweighing this negative.

I like the take-a-look. been using the regular/original when I ride on the road. Got the shorter one but haven't installed it yet. I believe it provides a great view due to the fact that it is closer to your eye. you can confirm this with any handheld mirror, trying it at different distances from your eye. I like the take-a-looks cuz you don’t have to take your eyes off the road or change your head position.

I recently experimented with this style mirror that I picked up at a consignment shop. it works well but you have to take your eyes off the road, in fact, you have to move your head.

whereas the take-a-look lets you just glance briefly. taking less attention from the road. they are very light & I have no memory of feeling any weight moving my glasses

some electrical tape & a tiny zip tie keep it attached very well

I want to try to combine my new helmet which has interchangeable face shields with one of my take-a-look mirrors. I can just use my glasses but that defeats the faceshield. I might just have to reserve that helmet for off road & off road winter use (where I don't use a mirror). that's primarily why I got the faceshield anyway (too keep snow & sleet out of my eyes). even tho I've had a lot of fun using it last Fall & thru the winter w/o storms in warm weather I'd rather have more ventilation. the other interference issue, occurs when the visor is in the up position. which would affect where I mount the mirror. right now it's easy to snap the visor off, rotate & re-attach while riding

2 Mirrors are better than one.

I also use Mirrycle mirrors, one on each side, just like a motorcycle. I find that having one on the right side too really improves my overall awareness of what's coming up from behind. The left side mirror tells me when a car is coming up from behind, the right one tells me how many. On curves, the right mirror sometimes shows the road behind me much better than the left one. Also road conditions & construction etc. sometimes force you to use "the wrong side" of the road, in which case the right mirror comes in very handy. I suppose there's some miniscule amount of additional wind resistance, but, I think it's well worth it.

Pretty good helmet mirror. If you leave helmet in hot car, eventually the 3M adhesive pad which attaches mirror to helmet will fail. Fix with Crazy Glue for a more permanent mount.

Has anyone mentioned the Tiger Eye Bike mirrors that can be clipped to your helmet, no adhesive needed, though I do use a small hidden zip tie to remove any chance of falling off. I've been using one for about a month now and so far so good. There are several artistic options for the front of the mirror and in fact if you order like a dozen, you can have most any photo or design placed on the front. About $20

I got a wing mounted mirror last summer and made a bracket to mount it on the front of the plastic crate that is mounted to the top of my front carrier. This puts it further forward than if it was mounted to the handlebar, but it works well for me. I only have one on the left side, sometimes I am in a traffic situation where there are cars on my right but not that often since I live in the middle of nowhere and I like being able to lean the right side of the bike against a wall without having to worry. My main reason for getting the mirror was because I pull a trailer with a canoe when on my annual trip, and being able to keep an eye on the load without turning around is helpful.
