Weird Gravel Touring YOLO Trip on a Junk Bike

I started bike touring and eventually bikepacking almost 10 years ago now and over that time my ride and gear choices were visibly influenced by websites like bikeforums.net, YouTube, ReneHerse (formerly compasscycles) and TheRadavist (formerly problyisnotprobably). I hand built a sexy custom bike with a full custom set of bikepacking bags and used all of the fanciest gear that I obtained over the last 10 years. But this adventure would be different. I keep telling my good friends that adventures are NOT about the gear. They are about the adventure and... friends!!!

So I set out on this trip with no goals except to pedal far out into the countryside and find a cool place to setup my hammock for the night. But the last two trips I was on I had a guy fire rifle rounds 50 yards from me because I stopped to adjust my frame pack too close to his house and then on the next trip I was caught by a deer cam when I was hiking through some trees to setup camp for the night. So I was a bit skeptical about this trip going well. Haha.

Here are some photos for you entertainment

So I made it home without getting shot at but it was close! I did a few stupid things on this trip (still haven't learned after years of doing this!), ran into a fox, climbed in a dead tree, and pedaled my old crappy bike the whole way. The chain was skipping on the way-too-old cassette whenever I would stand but that just made the adventure that much more fun!!! Haha. Here is the vid from my trip, you have been warned about my weirdness!
