I wouldn't stress about buying some, given you put the other stuff on. I'd ride it and see how you like it for a while , as from my experience there won't be any real need for it for a long time.
bonus for now is that you won't spend the 15 bucks or whatever on it, if it's not needed, and you might decide that you don't like the seat. |
When I was getting back into riding after a ~15 year hiatus, I found that my seat (NOT the bike seat) was no longer up to the task. Enter the suspension seatpost that I put on my old Fuji in the mid-late 80s... It definitely took the 'buzz' out the rough chip-seal out here in the country...
If I recall, I got this from either Nashbar or Performance (before they merged)... It consists of a 1" diameter x 1" tall elastomer puck sandwiched inside the 'knee joint' of the seatpost. It works quite well! https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...befb73c705.jpg After my bottom got used to riding again, I just never took it off, even though I no longer needed it. I ride my other 'road' bikes without issue now... . |

I broke in a leather saddle some 35 or more years ago. I don't remember what brand it was, but probably Brooks. It took 500 miles to get comfortable on it.
Now I ride either WTB of some denomination (never had a bad one) or lately, I've been riding ISM nose less saddles, the PR 40 or PR 60. |

DeadGrandpa...I had a Selle Italia Flite back in the day and it was great! It felt comfy and it looked good. It didn't last as long as I was hoping it would and I wore some leather out on the edges. How do you find the longevity of the WTB and ISM saddles?

cougrrcj...I've been off the saddle for a while as well; ever since I moved back to Ontario. I thought about getting a thudbuster but instead got a pair of bib shorts. Hopefully they can help me to adjust to life in the saddle again.

Brooks B-17
I’ve got the Brooks B17 on 5 of my 7 bikes. I LOVE that saddle. There is a Terry Fly on my Klein Quantum that was the most comfortable saddle I’d ever used... until I put the B17 on my tourer. They claim it takes 500 miles to break in I’ve put several thousand miles on both the Fly and the B17 wins hands down. I like the fly still but it’s covering is beginning to wear - I’ll be likely be putting the B17 on that bike when I replace the fly. I’m curious about the C17 for the Klein but reviews are mixed on it.
