Dana Point Closed
 

Yesterday was the last day this season that Doehey SP was open. They're doing some huge infrastructure improvements (which I suppose is good). They'd already closed the HB spot some time ago, because it's considered group camping. This means Leo Castillo is the last HB going south. They're only taking one group. So if another cyclist is already there, you're not allowed to use it.

Dana Point being closed seems like a big problem if you really were depending on that shower, but I believe it's fairly easy to stealth camp in that immediate area. And if it's closed in general, that could make it even easier. If, however, you're adverse to stealth camping, then this really is a giant loss to those still out there. They may not even have it going forward.

So as of now, with the campground at Big Phifer being closed as well, two of the most important HBs are unavailable. That being said, I felt lucky to even be allowed to ride with the way things are (covid, wildfires).
