Tmsn, I love that photo. Gotta get psyched up for that 15%climb, it's only 50kms away!
I once bought a white dress shirt like that at a second hand store, to wear at the beach, way back in the summer camping days with the kids.
Kept it thinking I might use it riding in conditions like this guy, but never got around to trying it riding. I should one of these days.

Another photo of him below.

January Amtrak Credit Card Tour in Southeast
Cotton Madras keeps the sun off and has better air flow than most other dress shirts and they are quick to dry when you wash them. For colder wetter weather I have 2 50/50 silk/merino mock turtlenecks I purchased on Sierra Trading Post for $10 each 20 years ago. 0 itch and quicker drying than 100% merino but as far as I know they are unobtainable.
I keep an eye out for linen shirts which are also nice to take on tours as they are light, nice looking and extremely fast drying. (but never put a linen shirt in the dryer).

I've got six or seven wool jerseys from these guys and really like them. They're a small shop in the UK (I live in the states.) The quality seems top notch to me, they dont get the stink on, seem to wear really well, have a really good jersey pocket set up . . . and they're priced reasonably. I refuse to buy Rapha gear (mostly because I'm a slow kid and I think it puts a "pretentious guy" target on my back) but a friend bought one and it's beautiful. But, he's taller, thinner and better looking than me so it might just be that. I did buy a Cafe du Cycliste jersey. It is BEAUTIFUL! But sized for a malnourished runway model . . . I like the Torm kit better. Feels better. Very understated. Doesn't scream "I'm a total bike nerd snob!"
I've probably 10k miles in their jerseys. I like them a lot. I've done about 2500 miles of 5-10 day tours in them. I only have the one per trip. Hang up up every night to air out. And, I dont camp . . . I'm probably not any brand of badass but I'm certainly not the kind that doesn't sleep in a bed or have access to power water & heat. I admire those folks. I'm just not one of them
