Best touring song?
I'm not sure what made me think of this, especially on Christmas, lol, but what's your favorite song, for touring? 🤔
For me, it's "Desperado" by The Eagles. You can improvise the lyrics just a bit, in your head, for a perfect fit. 😉
And just like that Seinfeld episode, it puts you in a certain "zone", that noone better mess with. 😎😁😉

Easy. Willie Nelson's On the Road Again. Goes through my head every time I leave a Cycle Oregon rest stop.

Amy Macdonald - This is the life.
Several years ago someone posted a slide show of their bike tour on the internet, this song was the background music to the slide show. The song seemed to fit well for a bike tour if you are not sure where you are going to sleep that night.

I also like a lot of the classic trucking songs for riding: "Willin", "Six Days on The Road", "Return of the Grievous Angel", etc.

I don't have music I ride to, though I do often have songs stuck in my head. My go-to road trip music depends upon what part of the country I'm in and what time I'm driving. If I'm anywhere between west Texas and the Colorado river, driving at night, the album on is either The Bends or OK Computer, by Radiohead. The midwest s soundtracked by Johnny Cash's American Recordings. Pretty much anything by Neil Young will get me through the wide spaces. Leaving the east coast is often something brutal to get me through traffic, like Bullhead or Houdini, by The Melvins. Mudhoney's Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge or Superfuzz Bigmuff is in the city lineup as well.
I can't filter this down to just one song, though.

So many situations and so many different songs. I seldom listen to music when I ride, but I do play it in my head or sing out loud. For me they tend to be situational. "30,000 pounds of bananas" is likely to be in my head on any steep multi mile mountain descent. I couldn't resist singing "I fought the law and the law won" when passing a chain gang soing road work. My female companions probably hated my rendition of "fat bottom girls".
Oh and "bicycle race" by Queen pops into my head sometimes. Otherwise stuff like " the wind cries Mary" or Ben Sollee's "sweet Marie".

the beat and the rhythm of the old marching song OVER THE HILLS AND FAR away. I think of bicycling related lyrics instead of the original ones. I should write them out some day.

I have a long playlist that I rock on the handlebar speaker, but I think the best ones that jump out at me for this thread:
ELO - Mr. Blue Sky
Kinks - Superman
Golden Earring - Twilight Zone
The Kings - This Beat Goes On/Switchin' To Glide
