Orlieb Sale
Ortlieb is having a sale on some bags, looks like they are clearing out the older less popular models and colors. 40-60% off, free shipping. They don't have the classics. I usually go lightweight but bought the red bike-packer original when I want to bring the kitchen sink
. I like this style for grocery runs.

iBoss is blocking the link at work.
You sure this is a legit site? The address says Phoenix, IL. The zip code is for Chicago. Phoeniz, IL is about 20 miles south of Chicago.
The "About Us" section of the site says the corporate headquarters is in Montgomery, AL. The pledge to you portion says they offer custom products. Sounds like it was copied from another website.

this doesn't look legit. Ortlieb does not sell direct to consumers, it's paypal only and the payment goes to an individual called ANISHA D'COSTA

Thanks to the sharp-eyed readers (indyfabz, ct-vt-trekker, and njkayaker) for pointing out the scam. I don't have the new bag I may not have really needed, but I have all my money!

Here is the "storefront."
Ortlieb sales from scam sites have been posted before. As others have said, Ortlieb does not sell direct to consumers, so if you ever see a site claiming to be Ortlieb running a blowout sale, it is a scam.

Just looking at the link on the page I could tell you it is scam. Obviously there is a lot of evidence here now but yeah don't visit that website and give them even a dime.

No, not really.
https://www.ortlieb.com/en_us
- The URL is odd or a bit off (“ortliebsale” instead of “ortlieb”).
- Typically, the domain registration is new and expires soon. Most (nearly all) companies have old registration dates with long expirations ( https://www.whois.com/whois/ortliebsale.com ).
- The grid of items is a common template for basic websites.
- The prices/discounts are all the same or similar (and “too good to be true”).
- The “about us” is vague, generic, nonspecific (could apply to anything).
- The addresses often don’t make any sense.

I can see a lot of people being fooled by it. If I was looking for new Ortliebs, if an internet search would have landed me at that website, I might have been taken.
Just checking here, I did a google search for ortlieb panniers prices and the site in question did not come up in the first list of ten hits. But maybe it would next week?
When I use a new retailer that I have not used before, I am pretty careful, but I let my guard down if I think it is a manufacturer website.
I am extremely careful about any e-mails I get, but there are plenty of news articles about phishing scams and I was taken in by one a couple decades ago, thus I learned my lesson on that. But that is a different topic.
