Darkrock Travel 700 frameset
I haven't built this yet but I received my frameset from Aliexpress. The store was Rongyaosports store. Anyway, I had clicked to the rebate to save several dollars (can't remember where I clicked, I think it was above the price).
I made the thread here because it's a touring frameset even though I want to build it like a hybrid. The following parts I bought for it: Sugino 110 BCD 5 arm cranks 172.5mm with Stronglight 36T chainring, Truyou metal chainguard and Motsuv crankset bolts (I think they were 8.5mm) Sunrace SLM96 friction shifter, Sunrace 11-40T nine speed cassette, Sunrace nine speed chain and Shimano Acera RD-3020 rear derailleur Dimension 25.4 Urban Cruiser Bar 620mm 55mm rise, 40 degree sweepback (in other words for real comfort) Selle Royale Freeway saddle 158mm I also have Shimano T610 hubs and simple Alex x202 rims. Even though the rims are cheap I like the look. I also have Tektro M730 V-brakes and Jagwire yellow brake pads. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4ba5724b90.jpg It looks like metallic blue in person, really impressive. |
I am shocked you actually purchased a frame. Its been years of you claiming you will start your own brand, of asking what people like about well established components like Hollowtech cranks and disc brakes, and just a whole bunch of pump faking over various bikes.
What I am not shocked to see is that you bought a frame that has disc and canti brake options. This is the most on point thing you could have purchased and 2010 is silently raising its fist in support. |
that is very nice. likely came from the same factory as my LKLM, which also has a "Traveler" model.
https://www.bikeforums.net/touring/1...new-build.html have fun! |

If this is mockery I don't think it's necessary. I posted this in case anyone wondered whether these Aliexpress frames were legit or not. Clearly they delivered.
It is mockery in the dismissive sense. The shoe fits- I criticized you for your years long claim of starting a bike brand and of your thread topics that essentially poll readers about whether or not commonly available bike design features will 'catch on'. And then I pointed out that I am not surprised to see you buy a frame in 2024 that has both disc and rim brakes. Interpret that how you want. Cool to know that the frame is real. |
Hi did you figured out cable routing yet? Just received the dark grey and so far my first complain is no cable endstop for the shift cables. Look like I will have to switch to wireless shifting.

It's not rocket surgery, Shirley, the combined wisdom of the posters here will figure it out. |
What is the tube set of this frame?
How long is the fork? Axle to Fork Crown? What is the frame size and reach + stack? |
